Random thought, My family moved here when I was a kid. Rent is about $1,454/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Mount Prospect sits at 53.6 per 100K. It's a a smaller city city with about 55,648 people. The median home value here is around $377,000, which seems about average. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Am I wrong here? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services.
