My partner and I are Homes are going for about $522,100 on average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. Any advice would be great. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Came here for retirement and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The community vibe is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

The food scene here is pretty good. Tons of great seafood places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 15 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a nurse who relocated here from Raleigh about 15 years ago. The main reasons were work and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are competitive, gas is improving.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Good luck with whatever you decide..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's been a really good experience overall. Feel free to reach out with questions..
