Hey, I'm a 31-year-old teacher and The median home value here is around $637,700, which is pretty steep. With a population of 11,876, Mount Sinai is a small town. Rent is about $3,019/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $3,019 for rent here. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Has anyone dealt with this? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Bought a house here in 2019 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in West. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Asian.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from San Diego about 5 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Winters are long and cold
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are affordable, gas is tough.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Pros I've experienced:

- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Dating scene is rough

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. Definitely worth checking out..
