I've lived in Pine Hills for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- The housing market scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Winters are long and cold

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a teacher, 34, moved here 7 years ago from New York. I've lived in Midtown and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Limited shopping options
3. The public transit situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Midtown: Great for remote workers. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from New York, everything felt improving. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $50K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The pet-friendliness is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

Came here for cost of living and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The school system is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Minneapolis about 4 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Maple Ridge for 3 years. Moved from Boston for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
legal is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Maple Ridge schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not a lot of cultural diversity. Far from beaches/mountains. And job market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 8/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
