Moving to Mountain Brook for work -advice?

With a population of 22,160, Mountain Brook is a small town. Rent is about $1,444/month for a decent place. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Thanks for reading. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Downtown. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Riverside area are solid. Kids love it here.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want weather, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
