Remote worker thinking about Mountain Brook

First post here. Crime rate is something to consider -Mountain Brook sits at 64.7 per 100K. Poverty rate is 3.3%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $191,128 in Mountain Brook. You can expect to pay around $1,444 for rent here. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Atlanta about 7 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are competitive, gas is improving.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
