What surprised you most about Mountain Brook?

Random thought, I grew up here but left for a while. You can expect to pay around $1,444 for rent here. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 2 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Minneapolis about 11 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are competitive, gas is underrated.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
