Hey, Been living here since 2018. Median household income is $179,917, which feels pretty solid for the area. The unemployment rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $2,975 for rent here. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. Has anyone dealt with this? I've been here 9 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are competitive, gas is hit or miss.

I've been here 6 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Westside. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in engineering. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely solid and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Eastside) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
