I'm a college student here and You can expect to pay around $418 for rent here. Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Am I overthinking this? Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

I work in construction here and it was the best decision I ever made. The job market for my field is challenging. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

I've lived in Sunset for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Strong job market in several industries
- The cultural scene scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Not very walkable outside downtown
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Definitely worth checking out..

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The school system scene is improving
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The dating scene is genuinely challenging and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Fairview) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
