Mountain Village quality of life -am I missing something?

Curious what people think. I grew up here but left for a while. The unemployment rate is 5.1%, which is about average. Homes are going for about $2,000,001 on average. With a population of 1,713, Mountain Village is a small town. Average temperature is around 38--F, so bundle up in winter. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to.

Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Lots of new development
- Walkable downtown
- Active local events

Cons:
- Limited nightlife
- High property taxes
- Lack of diversity
- Few job opportunities in some fields
Anyone in a similar situation? The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in North for 6 years. Moved from Phoenix for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. North schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Not a lot of cultural diversity. And food scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 6/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 10 years ago. The main reasons were family and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Nightlife is limited

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is tough.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Definitely worth checking out..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to San Francisco it's tough.

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..

I've been in Pine Hills for 5 years. Moved from San Diego for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
construction is strong here. government is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Chain restaurants dominate. Homeless population growing downtown. And cost of living can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 9/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
