Hey, Median household income is $101,404, which feels pretty solid for the area. Crime rate is something to consider -Mountlake Terrace sits at 171.2 per 100K. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. What are your go-to spots? Thanks! The food scene here is surprisingly good. If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely improving and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Midtown) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 15 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's improved dramatically in recent years. The only thing I'd watch out for is food scene. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Greenfield. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Asian.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
