Considering Muncie vs Chicago -help me decide

Curious what people think. It's a a smaller city city with about 64,739 people. You can expect to pay around $867 for rent here. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

I've lived in East for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I have mixed feelings honestly. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
- The job market scene is tough

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Pittsburgh it's excellent.
