Is Muncie a good place to live?

You can expect to pay around $867 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Muncie sits at 393.8 per 100K. With a population of 64,739, Muncie is a smaller city. The median home value here is around $92,000, which is actually reasonable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Anyone in a similar situation? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Raleigh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Uptown. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
