Rent is about $1,564/month for a decent place. With a population of 31,632, Mundelein is a smaller city. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Is this normal for Mundelein? Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

Came here for retirement and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The healthcare is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 9 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
