Been meaning to ask this. Been living here since 2021. Poverty rate is 1.8%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $508,500 on average. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Let me know your thoughts. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want safety, then yeah this place is great. But if school system matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

The food scene here is decent. Tons of great Thai places. it's been a really good experience overall.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it was the best decision I ever made.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much stable but now it's solid.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in West for 2 years. Moved from Houston for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
marketing is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. West schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Rising rent and home prices. And housing market can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 9/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Seattle about 3 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Diverse dining options
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is excellent.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
