Anyone regret moving to Murphys?

Hey, I'm retired and Average temperature is around 63--F, so the weather is moderate. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What are your go-to spots? The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Oak Park. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

No regrets on my end..

I work in manufacturing here and I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market for my field is average. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 12 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much stable but now it's pretty good.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
