Moving to Murray for work -advice?

So, I'm a teacher here and Poverty rate is 16.4%, which is higher than I expected. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Is this normal for Murray? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely excellent and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's been a really good experience overall. Hope this helps!.

Bought a house here in 2019 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 13 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great Thai places. it was the best decision I ever made.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Compared to New York it's decent.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want housing market, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is tough in most areas.

Used to live on the Riverside side, now on the Lakewood side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Lots of new development happening
- The dating scene scene is decent

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
