Biggest downsides of living in Murrells Inlet?

Anyone else feel this way? Average temperature is around 64--F, so the weather is moderate. You can expect to pay around $1,702 for rent here. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Am I wrong here? The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to LA it's challenging.

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much competitive but now it's pretty good.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I genuinely enjoy living here. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 14 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Meadowbrook. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in construction. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Pine Hills for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons
- The school system scene is tough

The downsides:
- Bugs and humidity in summer
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. No regrets on my end..
