Murrieta job market vs Tampa

Random thought, We're a young couple and With a population of 112K, Murrieta is a mid-size city. Rent is about $2,330/month for a decent place. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Would love some local perspective.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a chef who relocated here from Phoenix about 3 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good airport with direct flights
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Can feel isolated
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is excellent.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Definitely worth checking out..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Internet is underrated in most areas.

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The food scene is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

I work in engineering here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is pretty good. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 6 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a writer, 39, moved here 7 years ago from Portland. I've lived in Old Town and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited shopping options
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The public transit situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for couples. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Portland, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's exactly what I was looking for. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 8 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the housing market is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Sunset side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much developing but now it's excellent.
