Working in Muscoy -salaries realistic?

Hi all, Born and raised here. Crime rate is something to consider -Muscoy sits at 991.7 per 100K. The median home value here is around $379,200, which seems about average. With a population of 11,402, Muscoy is a small town. Household incomes average around $57,726 in Muscoy. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. What do you all think? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Old Town. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like sushi.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The healthcare is surprisingly good compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a accountant, 39, moved here 14 years ago from Atlanta. I've lived in East and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The job market situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for remote workers. surprisingly good vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Atlanta, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $100K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Maple Ridge. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

I've lived in North for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Close to major attractions
- Affordable housing options
- The weather scene is solid

The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for singles. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
