Best and worst neighborhoods in Muskogee

Hey folks, I'm single, late 20s, and Homes are going for about $124,900 on average. Poverty rate is 18.4%, which is higher than I expected. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Let me know your thoughts. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development.

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in Greenfield area are average. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Highland. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. cultural scene used to be much established but now it's improving.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is challenging in most areas.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Old Town for 14 years. Moved from Dallas for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have desert landscapes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Old Town schools are underrated. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited entertainment options. Bugs and humidity in summer. And cultural scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 9/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
