The good and bad of living in Muskogee

Longtime lurker here, I work in government and Average temperature is around 61--F, so the weather is moderate. With a population of 36,819, Muskogee is a smaller city. It's a a smaller city city with about 36,819 people. Poverty rate is 18.4%, which is higher than I expected. Household incomes average around $48,735 in Muskogee. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Good schools
- Strong sense of community
- Walkable downtown

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Rising rent prices
- Lack of diversity
- Boring for young people
- Far from major airports
What do you all think? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want food scene, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I'm a HR manager and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. The community is average and there's always something going on.
