Moving to Myrtle Beach -what should I know?

First post here. You can expect to pay around $1,132 for rent here. Household incomes average around $53,679 in Myrtle Beach. With a population of 37,214, Myrtle Beach is a smaller city. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Boston about 3 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is excellent.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
