Rent in Myrtletown getting crazy

So, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Poverty rate is 13.7%, which is around average. Rent is about $1,712/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $437,600, which is pretty steep. Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. The unemployment rate is 3.6%, which is pretty low. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Low crime in most areas
- Good schools
- Diverse community
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Not very walkable
- Boring for young people
- Mosquitoes and humidity
Am I overthinking this? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'm a electrician and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is excellent and there's always something going on.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Active local events and festivals
- The safety scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited public transit options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (The Heights) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
