First post here. Any help is appreciated. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Portland about 13 years ago. The main reasons were weather and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are manageable, gas is improving.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 3 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
