Alright, I work in energy and With a population of 106K, Nampa is a mid-size city. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. Homes are going for about $332,500 on average. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Am I overthinking this? The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 11 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Seattle about 1 years ago. The main reasons were work and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong job market in several industries
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Rising rent and home prices
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are reasonable, gas is excellent.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Lakewood. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in finance. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Korean.
