How safe is Nampa really?

I've been looking at the stats and Nampa shows relatively low crime stats. But stats don't always tell the full story. For people who actually live there — do you feel safe? Are there areas to avoid?

I'm especially interested in hearing from families with young kids.

Rent tip: look for places in January-February. Prices drop and there's more availability.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Eastside and Midtown are perfectly safe.

Don't sleep on University District. It's up and coming and still affordable.
