Thinking about relocating to Nantucket from Los Angeles

I'm a teacher here and Household incomes average around $109,988 in Nantucket. What neighborhoods would you suggest?

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 4 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

The food scene here is surprisingly good. Tons of great BBQ places. I love the pace of life here.

Bought a house here in 2024 and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely pretty good and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (South) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The safety is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 13 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
