First post here. I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Crime rate is something to consider — Naperville sits at 77.7 per 100K. Rent is about $1,852/month for a decent place. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Thoughts? Appreciate any input. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

I work in engineering here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is improving. Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Houston about 11 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and weather.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Nightlife is limited
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is better than expected.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The cost of living is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..
