Been meaning to ask this. I've been here for 17 years and The unemployment rate is 0.7%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $1,254,200 on average. The median home value here is around $1,254,200, which is pretty steep. Household incomes average around $140,833 in Naples. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Would love some local perspective. Any help is appreciated. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Bought a house here in 2017 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone about the same since then.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Oak Park. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in construction. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Public transit is tough here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Compared to Charlotte it's surprisingly good.

Used to live on the Lakewood side, now on the Downtown side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The cultural scene is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
