Best areas to explore in Nashville-Davidson?

Born and raised here. It's a a major city city with about 684K people. Average temperature is around 61°F, so the weather is moderate. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. What would you do? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's been a really good experience overall. Happy to answer more specific questions..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Fairview. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Mexican.

Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Denver about 7 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are established, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Good luck with whatever you decide..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is food scene. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.
