Public transit is nonexistent honestly - you'll want a car.
With a population of 684,298, the city has a {city_feel}. I saw that rent in Berry Hill is now /mo which is making me nervous.
What I like:
- Four seasons
- Active community events
- Strong arts and culture scene
What I don't:
- Limited diversity in some areas
- Pollen season is no joke
The food scene in Berry Hill is honestly incredible. I feel like Nashville-Davidson is becoming more expensive without getting better.
What would you do?

OK since this keeps coming up, here's my definitive Nashville-Davidson guide from someone who's been here way too long.
**Neighborhoods ranked (my opinion):**
Tier 1 (if you can afford it):
- Sylvan Park: walkable, great restaurants, young crowd
- 12South: affordable with character
Tier 2 (best value):
- Brentwood: best value in the city
- Hermitage: suburban feel, big yards
Avoid (unless you know what you're doing):
- I won't name names but do your research on anything significantly below market rate
**Cost Reality Check:**
- 1-bed decent area: /mo
- 2-bed decent area: /mo
- Groceries for 2: /mo
- Car insurance: excellent compared to national avg
- Utilities: /mo average
**The Honest Truth:**
The suburbs vs city debate here is real.. Nashville-Davidson is up-and-coming but it's not for everyone. If you value affordability over career growth, you'll love it. If it's the other way around, maybe consider Denver.

We pay /mo in The Gulch for a 1-bed and I think it's fair for the area. The weather took some getting used to but I actually love it now.

Honestly it depends on what you prioritize. If cultural diversity matters most, then yeah Nashville-Davidson is great. But if you need nightlife, might want to look at Madison instead.

The good:
- Good schools in certain areas
- Low commute times
- Good healthcare options
The not-so-good:
- Limited public transit
- Winters are harsh
Traffic has gotten noticeably worse in the past year.. I'd say for students, Nashville-Davidson is great. Hope that helps!
