Thinking about relocating to National City from Omaha

Anyone else feel this way? Rent is about $1,619/month for a decent place. You can expect to pay around $1,619 for rent here. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Has anyone dealt with this? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The housing market is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in West area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Nashville about 6 years ago. The main reasons were work and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are established, gas is better than expected.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
