I'm retired and Crime rate is something to consider -Naugatuck sits at 96.1 per 100K. Rent is about $1,309/month for a decent place. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Any advice would be great. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Westside. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in retail. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: average. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a project manager who relocated here from Charlotte about 7 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Lots of new development happening
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are affordable, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Happy to answer more specific questions..
