Been meaning to ask this. My family moved here when I was a kid. Average temperature is around 58--F, so the weather is moderate. Homes are going for about $104,100 on average. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What would you do? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.
I've been here 1 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Definitely worth checking out..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if school system matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Bought a house here in 2023 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone about the same since then.

I've lived in Riverside for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- The healthcare scene is improving
The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Strong job market in several industries
- The community vibe scene is tough
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Houston it's surprisingly good.
