First post here. Crime rate is something to consider -Needham sits at 32.0 per 100K. The unemployment rate is 3.0%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 3.0%, which is pretty low. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 5 years ago. The main reasons were family and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are wild, gas is surprisingly good.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The dating scene is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is improving in most areas.

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.
