Is Negaunee good for remote workers?

Random thought, I've been here for 10 years and Crime rate is something to consider -Negaunee sits at 198.1 per 100K. The median home value here is around $156,400, which is actually reasonable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

I'm a contractor and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. The community is excellent and there's always something going on.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Old Town for 12 years. Moved from Atlanta for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Old Town schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Not very walkable outside downtown. And safety can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 9/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I've lived in Eastside for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The traffic scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Old Town for 8 years. Moved from San Francisco for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is underrated. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is improving - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Old Town schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not a lot of cultural diversity. Bugs and humidity in summer. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 9/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
