Affordable areas near Nevada?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a nurse at the local hospital and It's a a small town city with about 6,952 people. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Am I overthinking this? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 14 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the Westside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Baltimore about 11 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons that are real:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are developing, gas is average.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Happy to answer more specific questions..
