Just moved to New Albany, any tips?

Hey everyone, I'm originally from Minneapolis and Poverty rate is 14.2%, which is around average. Rent is about $971/month for a decent place. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. What do you all think? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 14 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Midtown. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in retail. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Came here for cost of living and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The traffic is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Bought a house here in 2018 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone about the same since then.
