Curious what people think. I've been here for 6 years and Poverty rate is 14.2%, which is around average. With a population of 37,589, New Albany is a smaller city. Average temperature is around 58--F, so the weather is moderate. Median household income is $54,152, which feels on the lower side for the area. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Used to live on the Meadowbrook side, now on the North side. Completely different vibe. it's not perfect but it works for me.

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The weather is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Boston it's hit or miss.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if food scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in The Heights for 2 years. Moved from Chicago for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is average. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.
**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. hospitality is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have hiking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. The Heights schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Dating scene is rough. And food scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 8/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
