Most overrated things about New Baltimore

Hey everyone, The median home value here is around $646,500, which is pretty steep. Crime rate is something to consider -New Baltimore sits at 90.7 per 100K. Average temperature is around 55--F, so expect cold winters. It's a a small town city with about 11,595 people. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. Am I overthinking this? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want community vibe, then yeah this place is great. But if safety matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The traffic is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Feel free to reach out with questions..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Miami about 4 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Four distinct seasons
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Dating scene is rough
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are wild, gas is improving.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Diverse dining options
- The weather scene is tough

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for retirees. Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely excellent and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
