New Bedford quality of life -am I missing something?

I'm a teacher here and It's a a mid-size city city with about 101K people. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Used to live on the Sunset side, now on the Eastside side. Completely different vibe. the quality of life is solid.
