Unpopular opinion about New Bedford
Alright, My family moved here when I was a kid. The unemployment rate is 4.7%, which is about average. Poverty rate is 16.7%, which is higher than I expected. Household incomes average around $56,025 in New Bedford. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. What would you do? Cheers. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.
