Anyone else feel this way? I'm a 28-year-old accountant and The unemployment rate is 1.7%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $97,414, which feels pretty solid for the area. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Am I wrong here?

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Greenfield area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

I've lived in North for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Active local events and festivals
- The food scene scene is challenging
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for couples. No regrets on my end..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Tampa it's better than expected.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Internet is excellent in most areas.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a lawyer, 43, moved here 15 years ago from Raleigh. I've lived in Downtown and Fairview, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Rising rent and home prices
3. The healthcare situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Downtown: Great for families. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Fairview: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Raleigh, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$130K here.
**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value walkability, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Midtown) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.
