Longtime lurker here, I work in food service and Average temperature is around 47--F, so expect cold winters. You can expect to pay around $1,409 for rent here. Median household income is $97,414, which feels pretty solid for the area. Crime rate is something to consider -New Berlin sits at 50.3 per 100K. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Any help is appreciated. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Bought a house here in 2024 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 10 years ago. The main reasons were work and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are wild, gas is solid.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Meadowbrook. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in real estate. If you're in education you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Portland about 15 years ago. The main reasons were family and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Rising rent and home prices
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The cost of living scene is improving
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Road conditions need improvement
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Hope this helps!.

I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Seattle about 8 years ago. The main reasons were family and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong job market in several industries
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are reasonable, gas is decent.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Definitely worth checking out..

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Greenfield for 3 years. Moved from Pittsburgh for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.
**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor scene is pretty good - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Greenfield schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited shopping options. Homeless population growing downtown. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 9/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
