New Bern housing prices -when will it stop?

OK so We're a young couple and Crime rate is something to consider -New Bern sits at 414.1 per 100K. Poverty rate is 11.5%, which is around average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

I work in construction here and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market for my field is solid. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 1 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want safety, then yeah this place is great. But if school system matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is job market. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Worth doing your research before committing.
