Unpopular opinion about New Bern
Longtime lurker here, I grew up here but left for a while. You can expect to pay around $1,068 for rent here. Household incomes average around $56,893 in New Bern. Crime rate is something to consider -New Bern sits at 414.1 per 100K. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.
Pros:
- Nice parks and trails
- Good schools
- Close to nature
- Easy commute
- Good healthcare facilities
Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Sprawl everywhere
- Limited dining options
- Lack of diversity
