Longtime lurker here, The unemployment rate is 5.3%, which is about average. Household incomes average around $57,036 in New Britain. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. What would you do? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

I'm a contractor and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is surprisingly good and there's always something going on.

I've been living here for 2 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The food scene is improving compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..
