The good and bad of living in New Britain

Longtime lurker here, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Rent is about $1,187/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -New Britain sits at 422.9 per 100K. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Thoughts? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.
