I work in food service and Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. Household incomes average around $60,248 in New Brunswick. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Any advice would be great. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from San Diego about 1 years ago. The main reasons were family and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Dating scene is rough
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is average.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Old Town for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Affordable housing options
- The housing market scene is average
The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Cedar Grove. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in marketing. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Definitely worth checking out..

I've been in Old Town for 13 years. Moved from San Francisco for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's been a really good experience overall. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Old Town schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Property taxes are high. And safety can be frustrating.
